CALL FOR APPLICATIONS | WE Frame Short Film Festival

Are you a young filmmaker or videomaker interested in telling stories about equality, identity, and social change? The WE Frame Short Film Festival is now open for applications, offering a unique opportunity to bring your work to an international audience. The festival invites emerging creatives from across Europe to submit short films exploring themes such as gender equity, diversity, and social inclusion.

A Festival Beyond Screening

Selected filmmakers will be invited to Ferrara (Italy) from 14 to 16 May 2026 for a three-day programme that goes beyond a traditional film screening. Participants will take part in masterclasses, mentoring sessions, and networking opportunities with professionals, researchers, and institutions working on equality and cultural production.

Who Can Apply

The call is open to young creatives aged 18 to 30, based in EU Member States or countries participating in the CERV Programme. Applicants should have some experience or background in the audiovisual or creative field and a strong interest in the topics addressed by the project. Films must already be completed, with a maximum duration of 10 minutes, and should engage with questions of equality, gender, and social justice.

Why Apply

Beyond the opportunity to screen your work internationally, the WE Frame Short Film Festival offers visibility within a European cultural network and the chance to connect with other young filmmakers working on similar themes. It is also a moment to reflect collectively on how storytelling can contribute to more inclusive and equitable societies.
